FAQ
Does any source code or prompt text leave the developer's machine?
No, at the default policy. Work is classified on the device, and records are reduced to metrics before anything is stored or shipped: phase labels, confidence, token counts, timestamps, pseudonymous identifiers. Policies that include any text exist only behind explicit organizational opt-in, and no setting change can expose history retroactively. See Architecture and privacy.
Can administrators read developers' prompts?
At the default policy there are no prompts anywhere to read. Where deeper visibility has been explicitly opted into, access is role-gated and every read is audited.
Can Bill-y rank my developers?
No. There is no leaderboard in any view, at any setting. Analytics is team-level by structure, small groups are suppressed, and person-level visibility is optional, mode-controlled and audited. See Governance principles.
Which coding tools and platforms are covered?
The AI coding tools your team already uses, including Claude Code, Cursor and Copilot, on Windows and macOS.
What happens when the server is down?
Agents keep measuring and hold records locally, then deliver when the server returns. Downtime pauses dashboards, never measurement, and nothing is lost.
How are dollar figures computed?
From your organization's own price table, at read time, always labeled as estimates with their method and confidence attached. See Metrics and definitions.
Does Bill-y call home?
No. No telemetry, no vendor endpoint, no phone-home. License verification is offline, and the vendor has no runtime access of any kind to your deployment.
Does Bill-y intercept network traffic or install a proxy?
No. The agent reads the session records the coding tool itself writes locally. Nothing sits on the network path. Bill-y actually detects TLS interception rather than performing it.
Can we run it fully air-gapped?
Yes. No Bill-y component requires internet access, and a deployment with zero external network dependencies is a supported shape.
What does a works council or privacy review need to see?
The governance report: a one-click report of the live configuration (retention, suppression, visibility mode, role guardrails), generated from the running system rather than written by a vendor. Combined with the redaction guarantee, most reviews conclude the system processes pseudonymous usage metadata, not content.
We are evaluating. How do we get the full technical detail?
Request the security pack. It contains the deployment guide, the data handling reference, transport and identity notes, endpoint trust artifacts and the DPIA support material, and we answer follow-ups directly.
